Daria Daulat Bagh with the meaning of “the wealth of the sea”, is situated on an island. Daria Daulat Bagh history belongs to the 16th century when construction was initiated by Haider Ali and later, his son, Tipu Sultan, known as the ‘Tiger of Mysore’ finished the construction. 

It is the adored retreat of the Sultan and comprises Indo-Saracenic architecture with paintings exhibiting war scenes, the British and the French armies, the Sultan, Kings, etc. of that era. 

Later, it was transformed into museums, showcasing war weapons, paintings, and coins of the Tipu Sultan’s reign. The first floor of the palace has rare sketches, paintings, and block prints of notable events and personalities. Moreover, it accommodates the well-known oil painting ‘Storming of Srirangapattana’, made by Sir Robert Ker Porter in 1800, featuring the final fall of Sringapatana.
