History of Mehtab Bagh
In the late 16th century, this garden was created by Emperor Babur and later modified by Shah Jahan. It was under modification when Aurangzeb imprisoned Shah Jahan and thus, its development deteriorated. Later, Raja Man Singh Kacchawa of Amber got the ownership and gradually, it turned into a sandy patch of land. In the 1990s, renovation was started by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) with the saplings of many plants, trees, and herbs brought from Central Asia. After that, planning was done to create a layout related to the original Mughal gardens, thus reconstructed along River Yamuna, serving as the perfect place to view the Taj Mahal.
