Built in 1994, Lumbini Park is stretched over 3 hectares of land near Hussain Sagar Lake. It is reported that around Rs 2.35 crore was spent on establishing the park. In 2006, the park was rechristened after the name of T. Anjaiah, former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister. It is one of the tourism destinations that has been developed by the Buddha Purnima Project Authority (BPPA). This authority was created in 2000 to create and manage specially designated development areas in Hyderabad. Over the years, new facilities have been added to the park, like a laser auditorium, boating facilities, gardens, musical fountains, etc., to entice tourists.

On March 17, 1887, Pope Leo XIII declared the Cathedral following the Hyderabad adoption of diocesan status in 1886.
