About Hawa Mahal, Jaipur 

In 1799, Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh established Hawa Mahal Jaipur and Lal Chand Ustad led its design. Hawa Mahal is a stunning monument that takes visitors on a journey of historical brilliance delineated by the royal Rajput kin. Its exquisite design is a combination of traditional Rajputana architecture. In the evening, you can see a large crowd of pigeons swarming over its windy windows. History of Hawa Mahal, Jaipur

In 1799, Hawa Mahal was established by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh, the grandson of Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh. It was constructed as a result of Maharaja Pratap’s visit to Jhunjhunu where he witnessed Khetri Mahal. He was so moved by the unique design aspects of the Khetri Mahal that he decided to reinvent it with an enhanced version where Lal Chand Ustad led the design work. 

The main objective of constructing this palace was to designate a separate spot for royal women. There are windows in Hawa Mahal designed for Rajput Women to get a wonderful glance at the vibrancy of the city’s celebration of festivals as they were not permitted to go in public without a veil. During that time, this cold and breezy place served as a part of the main City Palace, offering Royal family members an escape from the burning heat. Since then, it has stood as a testament to the magnificence of the Rajput era.

Hawa Mahal’s architecture is a wonderful mix of Hindu Rajput architecture and Islamic Mughal architecture. To construct this, red and pink sandstone along with white marble is used. It looks fantastic from the street, accommodating five stories equipped with 953 jharokhas and latticework. For cooling the air entering the palace, Venturi effect technology is used, maintaining serenity and pleasantness, thus providing convenience to royal families for avoiding hot temperatures.
